We are crazy about movies, and especially costumes in films. I my self wrote my thesis on the role of hats in films combining history of costume, semiotics and film analysis. We could not resist and had to share with you the news about the amazing show that is going on in Los Angeles untill March 8 entitled “Hats on Film/ Il Cappello nel Cinema”. An initiative by Neri Torrigani in collaboration Giuseppe Grevi president of the consortium “Il Cappello di Firenze” and Stefania Ippoliti, director of Mediateca Toscana/ Film Commission, to promote hats and its italian craftsmanship around the world.

Let me tell you, a hat can give a character a meaning. The shape of a hat can determine the role of a character inside a plot and we find it genius, that finally, something was done to celebrate this unique gift that we have in Tuscany of making gorgeous hats with Hollywood: the heart of film making.Italy is proud to have such an amazing talent that has lasted in years, that continues to be made 100% in Tuscany, and that nowdays more than ever makes us proud to be italian. Tradion does not mean old, tradition can also go with innovation as wee see every year when these companies show us that it is possible to compete in the market, look updated and totally in style, but still come from a completely homemade reality.

“Pretty Woman”, ” A Tè With Mussolini” “Sex and the City” are among the many titles of  movies where one can find collaborations with Tuscan industries such as Grevi, Memar and Marzi.

We have not seen the show, but Neri Torrigiani and all the other contributors we know really succeeded on celebrating the tradition of italian craftsmanship and cinema.  Marina – Le Sartú

It seems that during these days full of grey, snow and rain, a touch of red completes a look.

Of course lipsticks and nails always work, but these two girls with their blonde hair and red hats just got it right.

We really liked  this girl last season with her leather jacket, boy’s hat and a cigarette in her mouth.

This time though we totally fell in love with her hat, sporty and absolutely chic. She’s got the winner look, no doubt about it. The long coat, open and on her shoulder, the sweater, the boyfriend’s jeans and the Louboutin’s ankle boots are all together a YES!

La nostra nuova icona ci era piaciuta già moltissimo alla scorsa fashion week, con il giubbotto in pelle, il berretto e la sigaretta spregiudicata.

Stavolta però, con la sua “veletta sportiva” ha vinto la palma della più chic. Guardate che look: cappotto maschile portato aperto sulle spalle, maglia sportiva, boyfriend’s jeans e stivaletti Louboutin altissimi. Decisamente si!

February wears itself with Spring: the maxi pull plays a leading role in the most glamourous relevant looks. Mint, coral, fuxia and a strong desire of color, undressing the skin. But above all, we can feel a strong desire to have fun!

Milano. Primo giorno di fashion week AI 2013/2014, primo appuntamento clou, come sempre, fuori da Gucci per immortalare lo streetstyle più cool. In uno scroscio di risate.

Febbraio si veste già di primavera: il golfone diventa il protagonista più glamourous dei look degni di nota. Menta, corallo, fuxia e molta voglia di colore e di spogliare la pelle.. Ma soprattutto di divertirsi!

We definitely liked Stella Jean spring summer show. She is a new designer and at the beginning her style seemed a little bit too eccentric for what we are used to see during shows here in Italy. Actually though, The more we watched her collection the more we realized that we really want a red shirt with multicolored parrots on it, fun and simply beautiful. Looking at this collection made us think that we love a woman that at first sight seems casual for the linear shapes of the clothes, but that instead takes care of her femininity in every detail. Take a look at the skirts, linear and Bon ton, and at the overall rigor of the collection. The dresses and the blouses are all bottoned up reminding an elegance typical of old times, the skirts are long with a fan-shape that we almost forgot existed. This woman wears perfectly made multicolor turbans that bring us back to exotic and colonial atmosphere. The wrists of course are full of bracelets and many other accessories. We really dig you Stealla Jean an cannot wait to watch your next show. We are very curious to see how you will interpret the winter time in your world full of colors and joy.

La sfilata PE 2013 della designer-rivelazione italo-haitiana Stella Jean ci è piaciuta, anche se inizialmente il suo stile così nuovo, “gioioso” e fuori dagli schemi sembrava forse un pò stridere con il rigore dei fashion shows dei brand italiani cui siamo abituati. Invece no: più andiamo avanti e più abbiamo voglia di una camicia rossa fantasia con pappagalli multicolor e rami, divertente e bellissima. Più ci piace pensare ad una donna che, anche se apparentemente casual per la linearità dei capi che indossa, cura la sua femminilità in ogni dettaglio. Fate caso alle linee bon ton delle gonne e al rigore dei capi. Vestiti e bluse ben abbottonate per un’eleganza d’altri tempi, gonne lunghe e fascianti che si aprono in ventagli che ci eravamo forse dimenticati, spacchi presenti, si, ma non troppo profondi, per una donna che si fascia i capelli in un impeccabile turbante multicolor che evoca mondi esotici ed atmosfere coloniali. Polsi carichi di gioielli e accessori decisamente attraenti..

Ci piaci Stella Jean! Molto curiose di vedere la tua prossima sfilata. Non vediamo l’ora di scoprire come sarà l’interpretazione invernale di questo tuo mondo così splendidamente colorato che non passa di certo inosservato.

Ci sono dei particolari del mondo maschile veramente irresistibili, pieni di fascino e perennemente belli.

1. Abbiamo un debole per la bicicletta da uomo. Sempre elegante, soprattutto con qualche anno di troppo. I modelli rivisitati sono svariati e quello della foto o è una Steelwool, moderna, ma con quel tocco country perfetto anche in città.

2. Cosa dire del tweed? Ci sembra quasi scontato citarlo ma è un classico di sempre. Esistono giacche dei nostri nonni ancora perfette, ancora di tendenza, caldissime, sempre chic. Le indossiamo e siamo sempre in linea con il fashion mood del momento, proprio perchè il tweed non ha tempo. E’ un materiale adatto a diversi capi d’abbigliamento che dona a chi lo indossa una nostalgica aria retrò.

3. Le sacche Filson sono semplici, pratiche, mai stucchevoli. In viaggio non danno mai nell’occhio, non sono pesanti e sono davvero cool. Ovviamente l’uomo l’ha capito prima di noi donne che a volte continuiamo a spostarci col trolley per comodità, ma perdiamo in partenza. Lui sarà sempre più elegante, in stazione o in aeroporto, con questa in spalla.

4. Immaginiamo un uomo in bici, con un capo in tweed ed una Filson, vagamente dandy e… Si, è decisamente carino, moderno e di classe..e decisamente ci piace.

5. Tutti pezzi vincenti, anche per il prossimo inverno, come abbiamo visto a questo ultimo Pitti dove i grandi classici vengono rivisitati senza dimenticare pero’ le necessita dell’ uomo contemporaneo!

This is how we ended last year and began the new one. We walked through the silence of the beaches in Maremma under an unexpected sun that reminded us of spring, wearing just a swater and a pashimna’s. We enjoyed chatting with good old friends while staring and filling our eyes with amazing sunsets that we forgot could be so powerful. And of course (ca va sans dire!) we drank lots and lots of glasses of those incredibles red tuscan wines during everending dinners…Just totally easygoing!

This is the mood we would love for this 2013. A year free from clouds, full of surprises, made of joys and lots and lots of laughs!

E’ così che noi Sartù abbiamo finito il vecchio anno e cominciato quello nuovo: passeggiando nella quiete delle spiagge silenziose della Maremma, sotto un inaspettato sole primaverile da maglione e pashmina, godendoci le chiacchiere tra vecchi amici e riempiendoci gli occhi di tramonti infuocati che non ci ricordavamo più. E ovviamente (ca va sans dire!) gustando bicchieri e bicchieri di squisiti vini toscani e cene interminabili. Viva la semplicità!

E vorremmo che il 2013 seguisse questo mood, che fosse per tutti noi un anno senza nuvole, ricco di sorprese spettacolari, di piccole grandi gioie e tante risate!
